The daily sound of the chimes being played on campus will be silenced for a year. With the imminent closure of the campus bell tower for major renovation, Altgeld chimes players from past and present gather to play the chimes for a recording to stand-in while the chimes are out of commission.

The simple act of closing your eyes, combined with the challenge of navigating winding stairs, architecture and outdoor spaces changes how most perceive the world.  The “Blind Field Shuttle” experience was hosted by artist Carmen Papalia, who invites participants to unlearn visual primacy and use their non-visual senses as a primary way of knowing the world.

Jagathon, IUPUI's Dance Marathon, raised $320,032.25 for kids at Riley Hospital for Children and affiliated programs during the organization's 22nd annual event. The 16-hour event included lots of dancing, games and a big donation to help Riley patients and their families. Through their participation in Jagathon, IUPUI students have been helping children with life-threatening illnesses for more than 20 years, giving financial and emotional support for hundreds of families across Indiana through the Wells Center for Pediatric Research.

Known as the "The World's Greatest College Weekend," the Little 500 is the largest collegiate bicycle race in the United States. IU Foundation President Howdy Wilcox Jr. started the race in 1951 as a way to raise scholarship money for IU undergraduate students working their way through college. Wilcox modeled the race after the Indianapolis 500, a race his father won in 1919. In the 72 years since that first race, the IU Student Foundation has raised more than $2 million for deserving undergraduates.

Indiana University celebrated the accomplishments of nearly 22,000 graduates during nine commencement ceremonies across the state. For the members of the Class of 2023, the ceremonies marked the end of years of hard work, perseverance and determination, resulting in a prestigious Indiana University degree.

The graduating class of 2023 take their final flight as Seahawks during the 104th Commencement ceremonies of UNCW May 12 -13, 2023.  The 3,183 graduates officially honored with degrees hailed from 33 states as well as the District of Columbia. In addition, 21 international graduates from 11 countries were represented.

The Miami softball team hit six home runs Saturday afternoon to propel the RedHawks to an 11-0, five-inning victory over Bowling Green in the final game of the MAC Softball Championship.

Brianna Pratt picked up the win in the circle, allowing no runs and one hit en route to earning tournament MVP honors. Riley and Karli Spaid each hit a pair of homers to lead the Miami offense.

 With the victory, the RedHawks (39-15-1) earn an automatic berth to the 64-team NCAA Division I Softball Championship.

Announced as the College's ninth president on March 1, 2023, President-elect Garry W. Jenkins and his husband, Jon J. Lee, quickly made tracks to campus for their first official visit on Monday and Tuesday, March 6–7.

It was a whirlwind two days that included meetings with the college’s senior leadership, a student-led campus tour and visit to the College Store for Bates swag, a photography portrait session, and the highlight: a welcome event that packed Alumni Gymnasium and gave the community its first opportunity to hear the new Bates leader live, and in person.
