The road-warrior Redbirds made history in 2025, becoming the first-ever team to win four road playoff games—traversing nearly 8,000 miles—en route to the 2026 NCAA FCS Championship game January 5, 2026 vs Montana State University. This run united the Redbird community, as the Redbirds were underdogs throughout the FCS playoffs. The Redbird would lose the championship game in an overtime thriller.
Sea stars are a little-understood but vital part of the ecosystem, but wasting disease is decimating them. Northeastern’s Angela Jones is leading the charge to uncover more about the deadly disease on the East Coast. The West Coast has already seen what happens when that keystone goes missing: The entire ecological arch collapses. Sea urchins started spreading like wildfire, eating everything in their wake. Beaches turned purple with all the sea urchins washing up on shore.

While performing as principal dancer at Boston Ballet, John Lam earned his bachelor’s degree in leadership from Northeastern, participating in a unique partnership launched in 2013 between the university and the dance company. As Lam approached his May 2024 retirement from the ballet a decade later, he had another dream to pursue. Lam wanted to establish a nonprofit dance company combining performance, education and opportunity for the Boston community and its dancers. He decided a Northeastern master’s degree in nonprofit management would give him the foundation to do just that.
