Art collector Hector Puig donated his collection of Santos to the Santa Fe College Foundation. Santos, traditional hand-carved religious figurines, can be found in churches, a family's shelf or souvenir shops in Puig's home land of Puerto Rico. In June of 2022, Puig led a delegation from Santa Fe College around the island to meet the santeros (artists) who create these popular works of art.

These series are photos are from a magazine feature story entitled "Verde Hasta la Muerte," which explores alumni and current students' connections to Austin FC through staff jobs, internships and supporters. The photo story features portraits of four alumni who work for Austin FC on the staff side as well as sports feature moments and a bit of action from the supporter section during an Austin FC game. This package of photos highlights our alumni achieving at the highest level, our impact on Austin and the community, and the culture of our community and city as a hispanic-serving institution.

Kevin Erickson, Director of Loyola's Urban Agriculture Program, studies how cannabis plants can remove toxic lead from soil while still being viable plants for consumption and other uses. In the first study of its kind in Illinois, Erickson partnered with a family on Chicago's near southwest side to help remove the toxic lead from their yard where they run a daycare out of their home. After moving thousands of pounds of dirt and shipping it up to Loyola's campus for research and lead removal, the family now enjoys playing on clean soil.

March Madness is one of the most highly covered sporting events each year, but there's a lot to the tournament that fans don't see. Student athletes studying between practice and games. A quick prayer in the tunnel. Last-minute practices in high school gyms—or worse. The logistics of moving thousands of pounds of instruments, costumes, and other gear. Cheer teams and mascots looking for anywhere to warmup before game time. The raw emotion in the locker room after a loss. With this essay I tried to capture some of these behind the scenes moments that most people never get to see.

Des Moines University, a graduate medical and health sciences college, played an integral role in providing community outreach and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. This photo essay documents three of the ways in which DMU employees and students stepped up to serve the community during the ongoing time of need -- first, by providing a drive-up COVID-19 testing site for patients of the DMU Clinic; second, by employees and students volunteering to work the phones at the Polk County Health Department's COVID-19 call center to assist area residents in locating and scheduling vaccination appointments; and third; by operating a months-long drive-up vaccination clinic site for faculty, staff, students and patients of the DMU Clinic.
