Amy Concillio, Associate Professor of Environmental Science, created a new Texas Ecology course housed under The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences. Throughout the semester, students learn how to identify state plants and animals and study adaptable organisms that have survived Texas ecosystem’s changes.
Indiana University awarded more than 20,000 degrees in commencement ceremonies from May 9 to 15. The Class of 2025 represents all 92 counties of Indiana, 50 states and 133 countries. Graduates range in age from 18 to 73.
The ceremonies at the university's nine campuses across the state included student speakers who shared messages of hope and empowerment. IU Kokomo student speaker Katy Johnson told fellow graduates: "Be the change you've been waiting for. You, my friends, have the power to impact and change the world. We all do."
Known as the "The World's Greatest College Weekend," the Little 500 is the largest collegiate bicycle race in the United States. IU Foundation President Howdy Wilcox Jr. started the race in 1951 as a way to raise scholarship money for IU undergraduate students working their way through college. Wilcox modeled the race after the Indianapolis 500, a race his father won in 1919. In the 72 years since that first race, the IU Student Foundation has raised more than $2 million for deserving undergraduates.
