Over the years, we have featured a monthly gallery of photographs to represent campus life. Beginning in September, we switched from single images and supportive text in a WordPress environment to multiple images with shorter text in an Exposure environment, allowing for enhanced visual story telling.
The UIC Flames Spirit Team’s journey to from tryouts to Nationals was captured with passion, grit, and pride. Para-athlete Megan Hopkins regains balance and power with custom prosthesis designed and manufactured by Northeastern undergraduates for their bioengineering capstone class. Hopkins and the students met at the CRI Rowing boathouse on the Charles River for the first test of the prototype prothesis on the water and on an erg.
"The pain is so intense I can’t stand. I place my palms on the ground behind me, press into my heels, and raise my torso to a night sky drenched in stars. It is beautiful. I let the pain wash over my body as I gaze at a million, billion, trillion orbs of faraway light. As I press into my muscles, the cramps become tolerable."
