Wetland Ecology and the Value of Craft (ENSP 2349) course isn't your typical university class. ENSP 2349 is a topics course in the Environmental Science and Policy department, designed to be a hands-on experiential learning class led by Steven Fletcher, Associate Professor of Secondary Education. Over the course of the semester, 11 Environmental Science and Policy students built four canoes and used these vessels on field visits around the Hill Country and the Gulf Coast to explore and study fresh and saltwater wetland ecosystems.

In this video Emily was able to work on getting her personal trainer certification. Emily has been an athlete and on the side enjoy helping people reach their fitness goals.

In this video Kelvin is an avid hiker and has been doing sections of the Appalachian trail for years. Kelvin picked one of the knob overlooks in our area and we started hiking at 4am to try an make it for a sunrise shot. The last bit of the hike was a struggle and we could tell the sun was starting to rise. Thankfully we just made it, lol!!

That journey to a world record leads the YouTube star straight to his alma mater: Brigham Young University. Creating such a working device on a nanoscale was a gargantuan task for BYU engineers, who pushed the limits of compliant mechanisms technology to make it happen.

On November 10, the UIC community enjoyed a Homecoming pre-game tailgate featuring food trucks, roasting marshmallows over fire pits, music from the UIC Pep Band, performances from UIC Cheer squad, and dancing. The tailgate was followed by the UIC Flames Men's Basketball vs. Little Rock at Credit Union 1 Arena. The 2023 Homecoming court was announced during half-time before the Flames won the game!
