The march, which is organized by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Student Veterans and University of Iowa Veterans Association organizations, is centered on raising awareness of the epidemic of veteran suicide. Each volunteer walks 20 miles and carries 20 pounds in their ruck to symbolize the 20 veterans who commits suicide each day. The marchers also carried a symbolic game ball for the Husker-Hawkeye match-up.
