Brooke Griffin and Olivya Dodge as UAA Diesel Technology students in assistant professor Nate Berry's course wear their Metallica Scholars t-shirts while working on engines in the lab. UAA's Automotive and Diesel programs were selected in 2024 to receive $75,000 in scholarship grants from the prestigious Metallica Scholars Initiative, provided by legendary heavy metal band Metallica's All Within My Hands foundation, which supports workforce education, the fight against hunger, and critical local services.
