In the Ecuadorian Amazon, researchers are collecting ant samples for a long term biodiversity study on ant species presence in forest floor leaf litter.
I shot this on site at Tiputini Biodiversity Station, suspending the Petri dish on a piece of copy paper held in the air by stacks of textbooks, using my headlamp on the red setting to silhouette the ants from below the paper.
