Graduates, family and friends cheered, danced, sang and wiped away a few bittersweet tears as the Northeastern University Class of 2025 celebrated together a final time at commencement ceremonies at Fenway Park in Boston. More than 50,000 guests filled Fenway Park for Northeastern’s 123rd commencement ceremonies to honor this year’s graduating class of 5,596 graduate students and 6,493 undergraduates.

Alum and adaptive surfer Claudio Morales is preparing for the World Surfing Championship on Thursday, August 29, 2024. Morales grew up surfing in Chile, where he began surfing at the age of three. He currently lives in Santa Cruz, where he spends his days surfing at the Pleasure Point Park coast waves. Morales suffered spinal cord injury in a car accident 12 years ago, while he was a student. After his accident, Morales underwent therapy to recover mobility where he was introduced to Adaptive Surfing and decided we wanted to be part of it, once he recovered.
The Molecular Monitoring for Health and Environment Lab was created at GVSU to join a network of laboratories across Michigan that had begun to monitor wastewater and provide critical data for public health officials tracking the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Loyola alum Adeel Akhtar was 7 years old when he visited Pakistan from the U.S. and met a girl his age with a limb difference, using a stick as a crutch to walk. This was the moment that put Akhtar on a path toward creating a bionic hand with touch sensitivity at an affordable price point for people who have lost limbs. His company, Psyonic, employees several users of the bionic hand, who put prototypes to the test by completing daily tasks like driving or cooking, offering valuable feedback for future iterations of the hand.
