The American Fisheries Club of Oklahoma State surveys, measures, and identifies fish in Theta Pond at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025. Using a canoe, club members float around the edge of the pond with an electroshock pole. Fish are placed in a bucket before being brought to shore to be cataloged. 

Periodically our Engineering students take their concrete canoe out to the Polar Bear pond for research and practice for the competitions they enter each year.  They forgot how early the sun was starting to set on this particular day which made the event both scientific and beautiful.  

Jackie, one in 30 million calico lobsters, is the newest addition to the Marine Science Center on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025. Jackie was caught by a lobsterman off the coast of Massachusetts in Gloucester.
