The January full moon, sometimes called the Wolf Moon, rises over a snowy field.

During the pandemic, I've been taking daily walks at all different times of the day. Here, very late morning sun rendered this snowy egret's feathers nearly translucent.

The first full moon in January of the new year is also known as the wolf moon, named after howling wolves. This image was actually made one day before the full wolf moon at the tail end of the blue hour on the west coast.
