Spring time is special in Cajun country. Swamps, rice fields, and crawfish ponds draw many wading birds to our area. Now with nesting season upon us the swamp trees is for the birds. There are literally thousands of Egrets and other birds competing for nesting space above the swamp water. This image is mom with fresh food from nearby fields to give to her fiercely hungry chicks.
A great egret flies through Sweetwater Wetlands Park, a critical wetland park for wildlife and water quality for the floridan aquifer, a major source of drinking water for much of the state of Florida.
