Paleontologists and work crews flip a nearly 2800 pound plaster jacket that contains several fossil bones of an extinct gomphothere, a distant relative of the Asian elephant that once roamed the land that is now the state of Florida nearly 5 million years ago.

The Memorial weekend found my wife and I at Toledo Bend reservoir. Every evening we would go to the lake shore and watch the sunset. Of course, I always carried my camera for such emergencies. When a heron flew over to this cypress tree to land, he did not pick the most picturesque tree because of the flat looking top. I was amazed when the natural tree topping was added..."Holy Toledo!"
