This Blue Heron flew a short distance and landed in the water to catch a fish.  I converted the image to black and white to see more detail in his beautiful wing patterns.  It is always exciting to stay in a wild environment long enough and quiet enough to have the animals continue with/resume their normal behaviors  because, for a short time, they do not fear your presence.

  I was blessed to catch the cormorant  performing this splashing behavior.  It is part of a mating ritual that includes zigzagging through the water, diving and splashing wildly to attract a mate.

Finding good photos is all about keeping an open mind. Living in a rural setting allows me to shoot an on going project of photos from my front yard which borders on a corn field.  I did add a little HDR in camera to bring up the deep blues in the clouds.
