Combine corn harvest, experimenting with a new drone, and sunset and this is one of the images that has been the most fun to make this year for me.

After moving my daughter into college in Charlottesville in August, I had several days to relax at my brother's house and became obsessed with all the hummingbirds. In Virginia, they seem to be mostly ruby-throated hummingbirds. While I got some images I loved of individual birds, the challenge was to capture the diving and battling. They're already moving fast, but then click into hyper speed. Over several days, I was only able to get a few battle images that I liked.

The aurora borealis proves its not just a wintertime attraction in Alaska, with several nights of great shows through the Interior in late August, 2016.

I had to photograph some baby birds while I was visiting a state park.  These goslings cooperated.  I loved seeing that it's wings are just starting to develop.
