High atop Altgeld Hall chimes tower, workers from White’s Clock and Carillon pound to loosen nuts that have held tight for 100 years as the work to remove the bells for renovation work. Giant wrenches, heavy mallets and lots of PB Blaster were the tools of choice as the crews prep the bells to lifted down by a massive crane.
