As the country and the Commonwealth prepare for the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, William & Mary is ensuring that the Wren Building is preserved for future generations. The Wren Building constructed between 1695 and 1700 is the oldest academic building in the nation that is still in use today. Earlier this year, the Virginia General Assembly approved more than $12 million to replace the Wren Building’s nearly 100-year-old roof, restoration of the cupola, extensive water infiltration issues and additional repairs.
