Dylan Jensen, a freshman from Columbus, Nebraska, sets up flags in the green space north of the Nebraska Union to commemorate 9/11. Jensen said his dad has been on active duty for 22 years and has deployed twice to Iraq and once to Bosnia. He said his dad lost a good friend in Bosnia in 2003 and Dylan said he has seen what the loss has meant to his dad. Putting out he flags is his way to honor his dad and all who lost their lives on 9/11 and in the war.
Army ROTC cadets and cadre run the west stadium steps Thursday morning. UNL Army, Air Force and Navy/Marine ROTC cadets and Lincoln first responders ran the steps of Memorial Stadium to honor those who died on 9/11. Each cadet ran more than 2,000 steps.
Riley Berner, a senior from Norfolk, is framed by fellow painters working on “Lift Off”. Lift Off is an entrepreneurial community mural painting in the green space outside the Nebraska Union. The student-created design will be hung in the College of Business.
The Offices of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Student Affairs have collaborated to host a rally on Hartman Green. Students have been invited to speak at the rally in response to the anonymous bigoted posts made on Yik Yak, as well as their personal experiences on campus and the other forms of discrimination they've had to face here.
