Gustav Pauly, collections manager for the massive invertebrate collection at the natural history museum on campus, works tirelessly to move thousands of gallons of wet collection specimens in to a new state-of-the-art wet collections building that was recently completed. The facility where the collections had been stored for decades was at risk of being forced to close by the university fire Marshall due to an extreme fire hazard. The wet collections are stored in Ethanol.

Sebastian Chávez Da Silva, fourth-year student and executive vice president of the Student Government Association, kisses his mother Rita after speaking at the President's Convocation in front of the class of 2026 in Matthews Arena. Rita Da Silva, a 1997 graduate from Venezuela, his father Richard Chavez and sister Daniella Chavez Da Silva, a second-year student, were in attendance on this special day where mother and son share a birthday on the same date as convocation, as well as his parents' anniversary. With the help of the entire incoming class the crowd wished the pair a happy birthday-and Chavez da Silva's parents a happy anniversary. For Rita Da Silva, who was moved to tears when her son spoke, the occasion felt like a homecoming of sorts. Rita Da Silva, co-oped with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Cambridge some 25 years ago as a student, she still works there.

Every year we close the school down for a day of service (we call it "Serve Day") in our town and surrounding communities. This year we added an after party with games, food, a slip'n'slide, and more.
