In conjunction with the photography exhibit "The Light in Cuban Eyes," participants start by looking at the images on display, then react to them indirectly in poetry or prose. While ekphrasis literally means "description," writing about visual art excites us because it is more than just translating what we recognize into words. In this workshop, participants play with sound and form to make art from what catches our mind's eye amidst what we have been invited to see.

A student ties ribbons to honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The ribbons were tied on the fence surrounding the campus mounds which research recently confirmed are the oldest man-made structures in the Americas.
