Dr. Carver created a strand of wheat and he named it Butler's Gold in honor of Butler and to give him gold with him not being able to compete due to the 1980 Moscow Olympic boycott. Like Butler, Butler's Gold is a wheat variety that takes off fast and finishes strong.
