I was asked to photograph an art installation in the gallery to show the work in the space. I asked in advance what they had in mind but was only told that they'd let me know when I get there.
Unfortunately for me, the purpose of the piece is to represent the constellations of a night sky, using blacklight flashlights to illuminate the "stars" on a patchwork quilt hanging from the ceiling of an otherwise dark and empty room.
With only about 45 minutes to work with, I lit some of the flashlights, set up a few remote strobes, and came up with this.
