On September 17th, 2024, a partial lunar eclipse was visible from Illinois State University's campus. I positioned myself on our campus to center the partial eclipse above the Watterson Towers student dorms, which is our university's tallest building. This image is a composite of two images taken back to back at the same focal length. One photo taken to expose for the buildings and sky, and another image taken to expose for the moon. Using a circular mask for the moon in photoshop, I cut a hole out of the long-exposure image to put the moon in the bright light of lost detail. The full-resolution image has higher detail, particularly in the sky gradient; this submitted image is lower-resolution to meet the UPAA contest requirements.
