The John Elliot Center for Architecture and Environmental Design, located on the Lefton Esplanade, first opened in August 2016. As a cornerstone of the university's Design Innovation initiative, the building houses five Design Innovation Nodes. These nodes are located throughout Kent State's eight campuses and include makerspaces, studios and labs.
