Over the summer one of Iowa State's two iconic mute swans was found deceased, leaving a solo swan on Lake LaVerne. The pair, dubbed Lancelot and Elaine, had been together since 2003. Many have noticed the remaining swan seeming lonely ... drifting to parts of the lake it typically does not go. It was recently announced this swan will be properly relocated and replaced with a new pair. On this day, I captured the swan cleaning its feathers and having a little fun in the lake ... a place it's called home for nearly 20 years.
