Our library has a series of posters posted throughout the building featuring faculty & staff with the title "READ" in large font; this campaign imitates a similar campaign from the 90's where celebrities would pose with books and were designed the same way. Each photo is taken within our university's library, so it's always a challenge to make each portrait unique. Each staff chooses a book that is important to them and poses with it. At the top of the central stairwell, the light was coming in at an interesting angle, so I set up a large umbrella with a flash for fill, and then posed the subject as depicted above. There is room at the top and bottom of the photo to allow for graphic design elements to be placed.
Portraits
Posed portraits of individuals or groups, in the studio, on your campus, or elsewhere in a university or college-related situation. The subject must be aware that they are being photographed. Other more candid “portraits” belong in the NEWS & COLLEGE LIFE category. Basic retouching/editing is permitted.

Professor Kai Zhang works to create immunotherapy techniques for disease intervention by using targeted light spectrum to initiate inflammatory cell death to better understand disease mechanisms. His hope is to master modification of cell components to stop disease in its tracks.
Emilia Burnham, was recently nominated to become the 2024 California Honey Queen.
Burnham is a bachelor's + master's student pursuing her Ph.D. in entomology and a career as an entomologist, specifically with honeybees and their venom.
Amaris Vazquez Collazo is a sophomore majoring in social work competed in the 2024 Paris Paralympics in the 100m, 200m and long jump representing Puerto Rico. Before she left, she spent a day with marketing and communications to get photo, video and social content to share across channels
