Three-time Paralympian Susannah Scaroni has battled back from many challenges. At the age of five, Scaroni was injured in a car accident that damaged her spinal cord. More recently, Susannah was struck and injured by a vehicle during a training run shortly after the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. Because of that, she no longer trains on the open road. Despite the setback, Scaroni just won the wheelchair competition in the 2022 Chicago Marathon and set a course record in winning the 2022 New York City Marathon.

Keith Walters ’11 and Joanna Walters ’13, owners of The Gallery in The Valley on Main Street in Geneseo. “We really want this space to be a place where creatives can come and show their work or connect with others — and we want it to have a low barrier for entry,” says Keith. “A space like this is important because everyone is local to somewhere and people all have to start somewhere. Galleries like this play an important role in giving people that stepping stone.”
