After spending 17 years in prison, convicted for the arson murder of her three-year-old son, Kristine Bunch was exonerated when new fire science proved her innocence. Bunch is embraced by a police recruit officer after sharing her story during the very first Wrongful Conviction Awareness and Avoidance class, a new state mandate for incoming officers.
Dr. Katie Sheats, assistant professor of equine primary care, leads a group of students through a practical lab on care for the horse's foot. Sheats has recently been awarded a major grant by the North Carolina Horse Council and been named a founding member of the Academy of Veterinary Educators' Distinguished Expert Cohort.
