Local Anishinaabe artist Jason Quigno created a commissioned sculpture for Grand Valley State University's Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

The carved Anishinaabek limestone sculpture, Akii Ndodem (Earth Totem), was created to show the connectedness of humanity.

Quigno created the piece at this southwest Grand Rapids studio, using flowing, somewhat repetitive lines to represent water and to make the stone seem as if it's moving. He hopes people looking at the 20-foot sculpture in downtown Grand Rapids will feel a sense of peace.
