Call for Presentations at the 2017 Symposium

Our members know the challenges we face and the best solutions to those situations. By leveraging our members’ talent we are able to offer the best programing tailored to our unique needs. That is why the University Photographers’ Association of America is pleased to announce that we are seeking member presenters for the 2017 Annual Technical Symposium at the University of Idaho.

Members may submit a proposal for a presentation on a technical topic of their choice, with priority given to hands-on workshops and demonstrations. Members chosen to present will receive an honorarium of $250-$400 depending on the length of the presentation and the number of times it is presented. The honorarium is granted to cover the time preparing and presenting the workshop. Your proposal is due on March 15, 2017, and we will announce the final choices on April 1, 2017.

The Fine Print:

  • Most presentations will last 75 minutes, though some may be asked to present the same program multiple times.
  • Priority given to “pass the pocket wizard” style hands-on workshops.
  • Carefully crafted presentations on specific software and post processing that are of interested to most members are also welcome.
  • We may consider an inspirational slide show of photography with a well-defined theme.
  • Your proposal is due on March 15, 2017:
    • Title and summary of your presentation
    • Specific outline of the content
    • Short bio and headshot of the presenter
    • Technology and equipment requirements, if any
    • Desired location, i.e. lab, computer lab, gym, etc.

  • Working with the symposium host, the UPAA board will select the member presenters by April 1, 2017
  • If selected, your full presentation is due by May 15, 2017 in PDF format.
  • Must be a member in good standing (up to date on membership dues) in order to apply.
  • Member presenters are expected to attend the symposium. Other than the honorarium, no other costs will be covered.
